Freedom & Freedom Unlimited earn 10% back on hotels

The Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited cards will earn 10% cash back on hotel purchases made in the Chase Travel Portal through the end of March.

The Freedom and Freedom Unlimited are already great cards to have in your wallet. Both have no annual fees and the ability to earn more than 1% cash back. Those are two of the reasons we think both are great starter cards. Both cards are also leaders in our list of best cards for each spending category.

The Freedom earns 5% cash back on rotating quarterly categories while the Freedom Unlimited earns 1.5% cash back on every purchase.

Chase Freedom is one of the best credit cards for specific bonus categories.
Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited will earn 10% cashback on hotel purchases this month.

If cardholders have an Ultimate Rewards earning card, the cash back can easily be transferred into points to use for travel.

Remember, you must use your Freedom or Freedom Unlimited to make the purchase through the portal. Because you’re using a third-party site to book a hotel, you will most likely not receive elite benefits (if you have them) with the hotel either.

While you will only get 10% back on purchases made between now and March 31, non-refundable hotel charges that hit your account in March should qualify for the 10% back even if the stay is later. There is also limit of $2,500 on each card.

Final Thoughts

To get 10% back on anything is a great deal, but hotels are something that are generally expensive. It wouldn’t be out of the question to earn more than 1,000 points on a single-night stay.

If you have a hotel booked already (that you haven’t paid for), it might be worth looking at the price on the Chase Travel Portal. If it’s the same or less, re-book it using your Freedom or Freedom Unlimited card to get the 10% back offer.
